MSW General Requirements

Applications are accepted for admission only for the fall semester. The priority application deadline is March 1; the priority deadline for submission of supporting documentation is March 15; the final deadline is May 1.

Applicants for the MSW program should demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to conceptualize, understand, and express abstract ideas (intellectual maturity, writing skills, etc.) indicative of ability to do graduate-level work;
  • Demonstrate awareness of issues related to social justice, discrimination, and/or oppression;
  • Commitment to social change;
  • Demonstrate the ability to be self-reflective about future goals and personal qualities and attributes that will be useful or that need further development;
  • Clearly identify why they want to pursue a social work degree
  • Work and/or volunteer experience in social services or related human services;
  • Evidence of Liberal Arts-based curriculum
