The graduating Class of 2019 consists of School of Social Welfare students who have completed or will complete degree requirements in December 2018, May 2019, July 2019, and August 2019. If you plan on attending the University and/or the School of Social Welfare ceremony, please complete the Ceremony Attendance/Registration form on the Solar System.

Caps and Gowns:
Graduation gowns are at Shop Red West (located on West campus of University) and may be purchased up to the day of graduation. For those who cannot pick up, there is an option to have it shipped for an additional fee of $13.75.

There is no greater expression of community at The School of Social Welfare than our commencement ceremony. To recognize students at graduation that have -- through voluntary service, activism and advocacy, or other forms of civic engagement helped address or make positive change around a social issue, we invite you to consider having your achievements recognized by the wearing of a Citrus Green-color cord at the commencement ceremony. SSW students who have served in the military may wear a triple honor cord of red, white and blue if they choose to do so.
Examples of service include, but are not limited to work with USWA, GSG, Leadership Symposium, Disaster Relief etc.
Cords vary in price from $4.00 -18.00 and can be purchased online at any vendor that sells graduation regalia.
Ticket Distribution for BSW ceremony only:
Each graduate is allotted 3 tickets. Pick up is Monday, May 13 - Friday, May 17 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday and Wednesday until 6:00 pm. See Laura Coiro in SSW Student Services.
No tickets are required for the MSW ceremony.
We wish to ensure that our convocation is an enjoyable and memorable occasion for all. Please instruct your guests with small children to exit the ceremony if the child becomes restless or audibly upset.
Platform Party, Faculty, and Graduates assemble for procession. You cannot leave anything in the robing area, so please wear your robe to the location and leave your personal items with your family.
Guests are permitted in the commencement venue 30 minutes prior to the start of ceremony.
Platform Party, Faculty, and Graduates will be directed where to line up for the procession into the Island Federal Credit Union Arena (MSW) and Student Activity Center (BSW).
As you walk across the stage, you will receive a congratulatory letter from Dean Jacqueline Mondros. The University will forward your official diploma upon final certification of your degree requirements.
The ceremony will last approximately ninety (90) minutes. We will have a reception with light refreshments immediately following each ceremony. The BSW reception will be held in Frey Hall- located next to the Student Activity Center; the MSW reception will be in the Wang Center. Staff will be available to provide direction to graduates and their guests.
For the MSW ceremony at the Island Federal Credit Union Arena, follow directional signs to Stadium Parking or the parking lot on Gym Road next to the Arena. For the BSW ceremony at the Student Activity Center parking is at the Administration parking garage. The Student Activity Center does have a parking lot with limited spots close to the building. Public Safety will be on site to provide parking directions. All parking lots have handicap parking.

Your degrees are officially conferred at the University Commencement Ceremony. The Dean of the School of Social Welfare and the School of Social Welfare students will be asked to stand “en masse” while the President confers the degree.
Guest attendance at the University-wide commencement is limited.
