The MSW/MPH Dual-Degree program at Stony Brook University's School of Social Welfare prepares students to work directly with individuals to improve their lives and conduct rigorous data analysis to promote the well-being of local and global communities.
Public health social workers are comprehensively trained to understand and address social issues affecting the health of individuals, families, communities, and populations, such as homelessness, substance use, violence, and environmental contamination.
MSW/MPH graduates are involved in numerous types of inter-professional leadership and collaborations in hospitals, accountable care organizations, integrated behavioral health, and community settings.
At Stony Brook, we train our students to become leaders in their field, engage in clinical and community settings, utilize data management and analysis platforms, and conduct community-based participatory research.
In a rich interprofessional healthcare setting, our students participate in an active learning community alongside students and faculty from a variety of health professions in SBU's Health Sciences Center. The HSC is home to experts in medicine, nursing, disability studies, ethics, history, law, literature, philosophy, religious studies, and the social sciences. Several of our faculty integrate perspectives from the humanities with their experience as healthcare providers.
Our dual-degree programs allow students to earn two highly desirable Master's degrees in a shorter period of time and at a cost-effective rate. Students in the MSW/PH Dual-Degree program pay the graduate MSW tuition rate. For more information, visit: https://www.stonybrook.edu/bursar/tuition/
