Job Opportunity for Workplace Wellness Manager

POSITION TITLE: Workplace Wellness Manager for non for profit, March for Our Lives; Full-time Employee SALARY: Commensurate with experience

The Workplace Wellness Manager oversees all human resources activities to ensure safety within March For Our Lives and serves as a strategic thinker and planner to Executive/Management team members in the development of a superior workforce.
Additionally, the Workplace Wellness Manager will assist in developing a staff-oriented company culture that emphasizes equity, quality, continuous improvement, and high performance. Responsibilities: ● Manage, advise and execute all MFOL benefits/compensation packages. ● Recommend new policies, approaches, and procedures, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant laws. ● Work directly with payroll company to ensure appropriate and timely information to staff about benefits/compensation. ● Provide onboarding training to provide a critical transition for new staff. ● Lead and advise on new hires. ● Develop job descriptions, post and pre-screen potential new staff. ● Participate in interviewing and facilitation of communication between MFOL and potential candidates. ● Review and recommend compensation strategies within the organization's philosophies and strategies for new hires, promotions, transfers and equity/merit adjustments. ● Lead staff professional development opportunities and trainings, and advise on leadership/development opportunities for MFOL’s staff and youth leaders. ● Assist in implementing and executing organization’s trauma and mental healthinformed HR protocols and procedures. ● Supervise and support staff and organizers when crisis situations arise. ● Provide direct access to problem solving for staff and youth leadership. ● Provide feedback to managers to improve individual and team performance. ● Facilitate annual employee review process in conjunction with managers and directors. ● Interface with members of all MFOL departments and senior leadership. ● Maintain company directory, employee handbook, employee-related policies, and organizational chart. ● Collaborate with other MFOL team members on projects and major events, as needed. Qualifications ● Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience ● 5-8 years of relevant experience, ideally in a nonprofit environment ● Experience in building training criteria ● Possesses strong crisis management skills. Demonstrates comfortability with supporting staff and following crisis response protocols when necessary. ● Trauma informed understanding is a plus. Mental health related training or experience is a plus [such as Mental Health First Aid]. ● Understanding of and commitment to issues of social justice and sensitivity to how oppression affects the lives of our communities. ● Demonstrated ability to engage with staff effectively ● Adept in use of computer programs including Microsoft Suite; Excel, Word, Powerpoint. ● Strong command over written and verbal communication skills ● Proven track record of strong organizational and project management skills ● Ability to work independently and effectively handle multiple competing projects with an eye on deadlines and goals ● Collaborative and flexible team player ● Requires flexibility of schedule to accommodate needs of the organizations that may include weekend and evening events on occasion ● Capable leader, manager and coach for board, intern or volunteer talent ● Good entrepreneurial work ethic and a desire to “get the job done” This position is based in New York City, but with flexibility for the right candidate. March for Our Lives is a national organization, and travel may be required.
