"During my tenure as President-Elect, my priority will be to create and sustain a culture of equity, inclusion, and agency. I intend to embody the goals of the Revolutionize Social Work team by leading our Chapter away from our historical roots in white supremacy; towards a vision of social work as an anti-racist, social change profession. This movement will begin with accountability in reestablishing authenticity in our efforts for change. I intend to create internal structures to address institutional inequalities perpetuating the marginalization and oppression of every Black, Indigenous, and Client of Color, as well as limiting the success of BIPOC students & practitioners. These new practices will be designed to honor & build power and agency within the margins through intentional framing and strategies. I intend to lead through collective & collaborative action, learning from past mistakes & taking affirmative stances towards equity. I intend to address the need for change institutionally and on the micro and macro levels. Collectively understanding our relationship to prejudice develops our individual and collective capacity to continue the work of dismantling systemic injustices within the dominant culture."
