The Office of Residential Conduct and Community Standards is looking for two (2) graduate Residential Conduct & Community Standards Assistant Coordinator interns for this upcoming Spring 2022 semester. Please see details of the position below.
Graduate internships with the Department of Campus Residences provide unique opportunities for graduate students to be able to assist in student development outside of the classroom. Residential Community Standards is dedicated to empowering students to examine their personal value system and to prepare them to make positive contributions to their communities. The Residential Conduct & Community Standards Assistant Coordinator Internship provides administrative and programmatic support to the professional and student staff under the lens of restorative justice practices.
Responsibilities of the Residential Conduct & Community Standards Assistant Coordinator position include:
- Review the current Code of Student Responsibility and conduct process with students.
- Provide students with the ability to gauge the seriousness of allegations and both the potential and actual consequences of their choices.
- Analyze and dissect the decision-making process used by students within alleged violations.
- Employ empathetic listening to student perspectives and help direct students towards ownership of decisions and choices.
- Provide feedback to students within the conduct process on how to make better, more reflective decisions.
- Connect students with resources available such as CARE, CAPS, Academic Advising, OEA, SASC, Campus Residences, Commuter Student Services, CPO, Academic Advising, Student Support Services, Athletics, Student Engagement and Activities, Tutoring Services, University Police, Veterans Affairs, LGBTQ Services, Career Center and others.
- Encourage students and student staff members to complete surveys and manage the data collected.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA.)
- Create and facilitate training sessions and behavioral interventions.
- Assist professional staff with relevant research and departmental audits.
