Robin DeLuca-Acconi, Ph.D, Named Social Worker of the Year by NASW-Suffolk

Robin DeLuca-Acconi, Ph.D., (2015) has been named Social Worker of the Year by NASW, New York State Chapter, Suffolk Division. She was honored at an Awards Brunch on Saturday, April 22. Dr. Acconi is currently an adjunct professor in the School of Social Welfare and St. Joseph's Collage and has been a social worker in the Cold Spring Harbor School District since 1999. She has presented at numerous conferences and served for ten years on the Fair Trade and Civil and Human Rights Committee for the New York State United Teachers. She works with Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights as a trainer and as a researcher.  Her research surrounds advocacy, fair globalization and human rights. Dr. Acconi has co-founded a non-profit, What Better Looks Like, which sends students to University in Rwanda and is dedicated to creating compasionate communities.
