Undergraduate Social Welfare Alliance- Service Project to Benefit Long Island Against Domestic Violence

On August 23, 2017, The Undergraduate Social Welfare Alliance and the incoming BSW students will be filling backpacks with school supplies. These backpacks will go to children in the Long Island Area that are in need of supplies for the upcoming school year. We will be collaborating with Long Island Against Domestic Violence, who will be assisting us by distributing the backpacks to children who are receiving their services.

By providing children with the school supplies that they need, they will be able to sustain their passion for learning throughout the school year. The Undergraduate Social Welfare Alliance is requesting your help in providing these children with supplies.

Each scholar will be receiving a backpack filled the items that are listed on the following page. The Undergraduate Social Welfare Alliance is hoping that you will assist us in this project. We are accepting donations of any combination of these items. You can also assist us by supplying a cash donation that will be used to purchase these items. Any amount will be accepted. If you choose to ‘sponsor’ a child, your cash donation will be able to cover the cost of filling one whole backpack with supplies. The cost to sponsor a child is $20.00. Donations are tax deductible. If you would like to sponsor a child, you may drop the cash off to Kathleen Albin, Laura Coiro, or to Dr. Velazquez.

Your support will enable these children to begin the school year with the school supplies needed to be successful! There will be donation boxes located within the School of Social Welfare and near Kathleen Albin’s office. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jack McKillop.
