April 2016 - Guiellermo Sandoval (MSW candidate, 2016) and Rich Dellasso of the EOC (Economic Opportunity Council), both veterans, staffed a table at the Health Fair for Suffolk County United Veterans on April 9. The Health Fair was hosted by The Long Island State Veteran’s Home at Stony Brook University. Military veterans face a multitude of health issues that are unique to their service. Specific issues include infectious diseases, chemical exposure, shrapnel and gun wounds, lost limbs, head and brain injuries, and mental health issues such as PTSD and depression. The EOC finds permanent housing for veterans and is affiliated with the Yaphank Veterans Shelter. Not pictured is John Rago, Supervisor at Suffolk County United Veterans.
