Breakfast in Honor of National Social Work Month

March 2016 - Charles L. Robbins, D.S.W., Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the Undergraduate Colleges and Jacqueline B. Mondros, D.S.W. , Dean and Assistant Vice President for Social Determinants of Health, hosted a breakfast to celebrate the contributions of social workers during National Social Work Month on Monday, March 7 at the Wang Center. The group of more than 90 social workers employed by Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University and the Long Island State Veteran's Home gathered for networking and words of inspiration from Dr.'s Robbins and Mondros. "This is a historical moment for social workers.  We are not just at the table, but often organizing the meal", said Dr. Mondros. Social Work Month in March is designed to raise public awareness of how social workers are leading change in their communities, creating opportunity for all and to educate national leaders and the general public about social work values, strengths and issues. The breakfast was an opportunity to celebrate and honor the social workers who work each day to improve lives and communities.
