The School of Social Welfare commencement ceremony took place in the Staller Center for the Arts on Friday, May 20. 41 BSW, 170 MSW and 2 Ph.D degrees were awarded. The convocation address was given by alumnus, Sylvia A. Diaz, Ph.D., LMSW, Executive Director of Suffolk Community College Foundation who applauded the graduates for their hard work and dedication in reaching this milestone.
Excitement for the future was in the air as students, faculty and their families and friends hugged and snapped pictures at the reception that followed the ceremony. A shared sense of purpose and empowerment was an essential theme of the day’s celebration.
" I cannot think of a better historical moment for you to be graduating as effective social workers. There are so many new and important opportunities for social workers", advised Dr. Jacqueline Mondros, Dean of the School of Social Welfare.
