Dr. Frances L. Brisbane, Ph.D.; Vice-President for Health Science Workforce Diversity and former Dean of the School of Social Welfare received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the NASW NYC Chapter annual meeting on October 20. Dr. Brisbane was honored for her outstanding achievements and the lasting impact of her contributions in the field. The theme of the evening was “The National Election, Social Work in the City & the Impact of Systemic Racism on Health and Mental Health.” Having spanned decades in the profession, Dr. Brisbane, in her remarks, shared her perspective on social work and its ever changing role in both politics and undoing racism.
