Heather Savino, B.S.W. Candidate Receives SUNY Chancellor Award

April 2016 - Heather Savino, B.S.W. candidate, was one of just thirteen SBU students to receive the Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher presented the awards to 248 SUNY students at a ceremony in Albany on April 5. Heather plans to continue her education in The School of Social Welfare to obtain a master's degree with a focus in public policy and social action. Her goal is to make policies that create a more inclusive and affirming country for all identities. Heather was part of the team that hosted National StandUp against Bullying and Homophobia Day and worked to make Stony Brook University this year's Northeast LGBT Conference host. Heather has been actively involved in many areas of campus life. Earlier in the semester, she received the Undergraduate Recognition Award.
