The School of Social Welfare communities at the Stony Brook campus and in Manhattan, held town hall meetings in December- "Community Conversation for Social Workers: The Way Forward", to connect, exchange ideas and share their thoughts on how to work across community and individual differences, following the election season. In an atmosphere that one participant described as "empowering and soothing", students, faculty, staff and alumni recommitted to the values of the profession, to work across divides, and advocate for solutions to the social ills of those they serve.
