Shining a Spotlight on Inspirational Leaders Within SSW: SB Magazine Features Faculty Who Inspire Others to Set Their Ambitions High, Achieve Their Goals and Reach Their Full Potential

The Spring 2022 issue of the Stony Brook Magazine, as an element of Women's History month, specifically honors the achievements of women leaders at SBU. Our very own Dr. Melissa Bessaha, Associate Professor, is featured in the issue that hit the stands today. The story about Dr. Bessaha captures so much about the truth of her as a person, as a social worker, as an educator, as a scholar, and as an inspirational leader at SBU. The feature shines a light on Melissa's research, practice and teaching, and specifically on how her work emphasizes lifting barriers for young adults and underserved populations.

Included in this issue is also a story about Dr. Michelle Ballan, Professor & Associate Dean for Research. This story illustrates how Dr. Ballan and other leaders have joined forces to build new collaborations at SBU that serve to mentor, guide, and launch other researchers' forward in their work.
